Founded in 1911 (Meiji 44), Tanaka Sake Brewery is currently run by the fifth-generation head brewer, who carefully brews sake with his family and several other people under the motto of "Japanese sake, good sake (connecting people with good sake)." The representative brand, "Harunomine," was named after the fact that new sake is born when the signs of spring can be felt on one of the peaks at the foot of the Suzuka Mountains, as seen from the brewery. "Harunomine" is made from locally grown sake rice grown in mineral-rich soil and underground water from the Suzuka Mountains, and comes in a variety of products including pure rice sake, ordinary sake, and aged sake. The lettering on the label, which is impressive for its soft brushstrokes, was created by his wife, Tomoko.
