Founded in 1911 (Meiji 44), Tanaka Brewery is currently run by the 5th generation brewery owner and master brewer. With the motto "Harujou Ryoshu" (connecting people through delicious sake), Tanaka Brewery carefully brews sake with a small number of family members. Their flagship brand, "Harunomine," was named after the fact that the new sake is produced when the first signs of spring can be felt on a peak in the foothills of the Suzuka Mountains, visible from the brewery. Made with locally grown sake rice cultivated in mineral-rich soil and groundwater from the Suzuka Mountains, "Harunomine" comes in various types, including junmai sake, regular sake, and aged sake. The lettering on the labels, with its soft brushstrokes, was done by the owner's wife, Tomoko.
