Founded in 1658, our brewery boasts a history of over 360 years in Otsu, a city famous for its rice distribution and transit, and also known for its "Otsu sake." Our brand name, "Asajio," was given to us in 1677 by Prince Shogoin-no-miya Michihiro, son of Emperor Go-Mizunoo, after a waka poem he bestowed upon us. We cherish each winter and strive to create sake that is uniquely ours, adhering to traditional, handcrafted methods. Furthermore, we strongly hope to transform the digitally-driven process of sake brewing into an analog one, conveying the warmth of human touch to those who drink our sake.
