Founded in 1658, we have a history of brewing sake for over 360 years in Otsu, a place famous for its rice distribution and transit point, and for its sake called "Otsu Sake." The brand name "Asajio" was named after a poem bestowed upon our family by Prince Michihiro Shogoin, son of Emperor Gomizunoo, in 1677. We cherish every winter, and strive to make sake that is "unique to our brewery," while sticking to traditional hand-made methods. We also strongly hope to change the current digital age of "brewing sake" to analog, and to convey the warmth of our hands to the people who drink our sake.
