Founded in the early Meiji period by the first generation, Tohei, the brand name originates from the time of its founding, when a beautiful cherry blossom tree bloomed in the grounds of a nearby shrine. Moved by its beauty, the first generation Tohei wished to create a sake as beautiful as the pale pink of the cherry blossom, and named it "Usuzakura" (pale cherry blossom). Since then, the traditional taste, technique, and spirit have been passed down through generations. Using high-quality water that springs from the Suzuka Mountains and carefully selected rice harvested in Shiga Prefecture, we strive to bring out the full flavor of the rice, carefully selecting small batches to produce high-quality, exquisite sake. We are dedicated to brewing sake so that we can offer everyone the finest luxury item, a product woven from water, rice, and the skill of our master brewer.
