Owner
Founded in 1849, the second-generation owner, Kumakichi, was an avid sumo wrestler, so he named his sake "Higashi Rikishi" (Eastern Sumo Wrestler). Since then, with the motto "Higashi Rikishi, a sake that never loses in a match," they have continued to produce a robust and flavorful sake that fully brings out the deliciousness of the rice. Since 1970, they have been working on long-term aging of sake, and in recent years, they have been using natural caves as aging cellars, challenging themselves to create new flavors of sake through unique storage environments.
