Fukumitsu Sake Brewery Co., Ltd. is a sake brewery founded in 1933. In the spring of 2006, the previous head brewer, who was also the chief brewer, fell ill and was forced to close the business, and with that, the sake brewing license was returned to the government. Nine years later, in 2015, Fukumitsu Hiroyasu, the great-grandson of the founder, left his job to become the fourth-generation head brewer. After that, with the help of local residents and local university students, he began cleaning, repairing, and renovating the dilapidated sake brewery. He gave up on obtaining a sake brewing license because he was unable to obtain it. He decided to brew "doburoku" under a special zone license. After about four years of preparation, in 2019, Fukumitsu Sake Brewery was revived for the first time in 13 years. Currently, in addition to making delicious doburoku, the brewery is also contributing to the revitalization of the local area. At the same time, the brewery is also working to promote and popularize "doburoku," which is said to be the origin of sake.
