Fukumitsu Sake Brewery Co., Ltd. is a sake brewery founded in 1933. In the spring of 2006, the previous brewer, who was also the master brewer, fell ill and was forced to close the business. Consequently, the sake brewing license was returned to the government. Nine years later, in 2015, Fukumitsu Hiroyasu, the founder's great-grandson, quit his job to become the fourth-generation brewer. With the help of local residents and university students, he began cleaning, repairing, and renovating the dilapidated brewery. He gave up on obtaining a sake brewing license after failing to obtain one. Instead, he decided to brew doburoku under a special zone license. After about four years of preparation, in 2019, Fukumitsu Sake Brewery was revived for the first time in 13 years. Currently, in addition to producing delicious doburoku, the brewery is also contributing to the revitalization of the local community. At the same time, the brewery is working to promote and popularize doburoku, which is said to be the origin of sake.
