This is the only sake brewery in Kakogawa City, founded in 1874 (Meiji 7) and currently run by two master brewers. After a period as a subcontractor for major sake breweries, the brewery revived its original sake, "Seiten," in 2010 (Heisei 22). The name comes from the Emperor's enthronement ceremony during the Meiji Restoration. Approximately 20,000 liters are brewed annually, and everything from bottle washing to bottling is done by hand. The brewery offers four standard varieties: Josen, Tokubetsu Junmai, Junmai Ginjo, and Daiginjo. The brewery also offers unpasteurized sake and nigori sake, some of which use sake rice grown in its own fields. Committed to local production and consumption and handcrafted, the brewery produces a variety of sakes with a clean, refreshing taste and a sweet-and-sour balance, using underground water from the Kakogawa River, a first-class river, and sake rice grown in Hyogo Prefecture. Widely loved by locals, the brewery continues to attract new fans. In 2020, it won the Excellence Award in the hot sake category at the Osaka Regional Taxation Bureau Sake Tasting Competition.
