Originally a merchant family in Hida Takayama that ran a hair oil and candle shop since the Edo period, the fifth generation founded a sake brewery during the Meiji era. Since then, they have continued to brew sake in small batches with the motto "Sake is something that is brewed and nurtured." Currently, they offer a range of flavorful sakes with roots in Ise and Hida. The brand name "Hida no Hana" (Flower of Hida) was chosen to evoke the joy of spring, after the long and harsh winter, when cherry blossoms and other colorful flowers bloom splendidly around the time of the Takayama Festival.
