This is the only sake brewery still standing in Imai-cho, Kashihara City, where the townscape from the Middle Ages remains, and has been in the business of sake brewing for about 300 years. The brewery's name is Jobonjiya, and the main building is designated as an Important Cultural Property of Japan. Currently, the 16th generation head of the family is the brewery's toji, carefully brewing small amounts of sake. Their representative brand, "Shusse-o," is well-received for its auspicious name. It can be enjoyed as a drink with Japanese food or the local specialty, persimmon leaf sushi.
