Founded in 1863 in Ogawa Town, Saitama Prefecture, the brewery relocated in 1900 to a location along the Nakasendo highway in Fukaya-juku, seeking favorable geographical and water resources. Since then, with its brick chimney exceeding 20 meters in height as its symbol, it has been a beloved local sake of Fukaya for many years. In 2007, the sixth-generation owner, Hideyuki Takizawa, succeeded his predecessor, a Nanbu Toji (master brewer), and assumed the role of Toji himself. Building upon the inherited traditions, the brewery continues to challenge itself by incorporating new technologies and values. With a focus on handcrafted innovation, it has recently been concentrating on developing authentic sparkling sake.
