Founded in 1860 in Ogawamachi, Saitama Prefecture, the brewery was established in 1900, due to its advantageous location and water resources, along the Fukaya-juku road on the Nakasendo road. Since then, the brewery has long been beloved as Fukaya's local sake, symbolized by its brick chimney over 20 meters tall. In 2007, Takizawa Hideyuki, the sixth-generation head of the family, took over from the previous master brewer, Nanbu Toji, and became Toji himself. Building on the traditions that have been passed down, the brewery continues to take on new challenges, incorporating new techniques and values. With a focus on innovation in handcrafted sake, in recent years the brewery has focused on developing authentic sparkling sake.
