According to the sake trading documents remaining in our family, our business was founded in 1695 (Genroku 8). This was around the time when the Hida region became a direct territory of the shogunate and the shogunate issued an order to demolish Takayama Castle. Since we originally lived in Ishikawa Prefecture, our shop name is "Kagaya," and the noren (curtain) at our entrance is dyed with "Kagaya." The current owner is the 16th generation of this long-established business. The name "Warai Jogo" comes from the proverb "Fortune comes to a laughing home." As the name suggests, please enjoy it at a joyous occasion.
