Founder Denshiro Koganei, with the sole desire to do business that would benefit society, started a small sake brewery, which marked the beginning of today's sake brewing. The original name of the brewery was "Masuya," and the name "Sakamasu" was chosen with the hope of ever-increasing prosperity. The brewery is located in the lush natural surroundings of Atsugi City, Kanagawa Prefecture, an area blessed with abundant water resources, including Nanasawa Onsen and local tofu shops. At Koganei Sake Brewery, the master brewers, who inherited the skills of Echigo brewers, incorporate new techniques to create a consistent flavor. In recent years, the brewery has received an increasing number of awards in the ginjo sake category, acknowledging its improved techniques and consistency.
