Our distant ancestor was Ota Dokan, a master builder of Edo Castle. We were born in Kusatsu, a post town on the Tokaido road located east of Kyoto, which was once a bustling route. On the old highway, which still faintly retains traces of that era, we continue to brew local sake that is easily accessible, high-quality, and enjoyable to drink with friends every day—sake that is simply delicious, not something special, but just the ordinary. This is a renowned sake that bears the name "Dokan," in honor of Lord Ota Dokan, a Muromachi warlord who laid the foundation for Edo Castle.
