Our ancestor was Ota Dokan, a master of Edo Castle construction. We were born in Kusatsu, a post town on the Tokaido road east of Kyoto, where people used to come and go all the time. On this old road that still retains a faint remnant of its past, we continue to brew local sake, just as we did in the past, that is easy to find, high-quality sake to enjoy with friends as a daily pleasure, not something special but just naturally delicious. This famous sake bears the name "Dokan" after Ota Dokan, a Muromachi warlord who built the foundations of Edo Castle.
