Saito Sake Brewery was founded in 1895 in Kyoto, the heart of sake brewing. The Saito family's ancestors moved to this area from Senshu around the time of the Genroku era and ran a kimono shop called Izutsuya Ihei. They continued to protect this long-established business for eight generations before switching to sake brewing. At the time, the company's trademarks included Yanagi Masamune and Otaka, but in commemoration of the enthronement of Emperor Taisho, they changed to "Eikun." Since then, they have carefully nurtured this brand, and now they ship their fine sake throughout Japan and overseas, earning high praise everywhere. They have won the gold medal at the National New Sake Tasting Competition for 14 consecutive years, in recognition of their high level of brewing techniques.
