Founded in 1895 in Kyoto, the heart of sake brewing, Saito Brewery's ancestors moved to the area from Senshu during the Genroku era and ran a kimono business as Izutsuya Ihei. For eight generations, they inherited and maintained the long-established business before transitioning to sake brewing. At the time, their trademarks included Yanagi Masamune and Ootaka, but they changed to "Eikun" to commemorate the enthronement of Emperor Taisho. Since then, they have carefully nurtured this brand, and today they ship their fine sake throughout Japan and overseas, receiving high praise in various regions. They have won gold medals at the National New Sake Appraisal Competition for 14 consecutive years, demonstrating their high level of brewing expertise.
