Seko Sake Brewery is located in Koka-cho, Koka City, Shiga Prefecture, the birthplace of the Koka-ryu Ninja. Founded in 1869, the brewery has been making sake using local rice and water, focusing on the so-called "plain" terroir. As the land was once the bottom of Lake Biwa in ancient times, it is blessed with clayey soil known locally as "zurinko," and has produced high-quality rice since ancient times, making it known as a rice-producing area in the Kansai region. The brewery has a long history in this area, where the water source is underground water from the Suzuka Mountains, and the harsh winters make it the perfect place for sake brewing.
