Story
Tenon [Itakura Sake Brewery]Itakura Sake Brewery, brewer of the sake "Tenon" in Izumo City, Shimane Prefecture, was founded in 1871. The name Tenon was given to the sake in 1916 by Sakamoto Gozen, the head priest of Yohoji Temple, the head temple of the Nichiren sect, which is the family's sect. Itakura Sake Brewery was named after the Buddhist scripture "Mugu Tenon". "Mugu Tenon" is a phrase that expresses a wish for peace in the world and its future, saying that if the heavens are calm, there will be no hardships (trouble). In order to create a pure and gentle taste like sacred sake, Tenon is brewed using the traditional Izumo brewer's method of "San'in Ginjo brewing".
