Product description
"A true ""local sake"" made entirely from Fukui Prefecture ingredients. Brewed with Fukui yeast (FK801-C) developed by a local research institute, it uses ""Gohyakumangoku"" sake rice grown in Obama City and the subsoil water of the Minami River flowing through Obama. The result is a sake with a somewhat fruity aroma and a slightly sweet, soft, and smooth mouthfeel. "

Story
Wakasa [Obama Sake Brewery]Yoshiokagura (Nakai, Obama City) and Itsumigura (Kumagawa, Wakasa Town), founded in the Edo period, merged in 1965 (Showa 40) to form Wakasa Fuji, the only sake brewery in the Obama area. Later, the descendants of the Yoshiokagura before the merger took over the business and established Obama Sake Brewery in 2016 (Heisei 28). Among the brands of "Wakasa" that bear the name of the former brewery, "Junmai Ginjo Wakasa" is one of the local sakes that has attracted attention from around the world. The sake rice is locally grown and brewed with Gohyakumangoku, the pure underground water of Minamigawa River that flows in front of the brewery, and yeast (FK801-C) developed in the prefecture, all of which are produced in Fukui Prefecture. The rice is polished to 55%, and the sake has an impressive fruity aroma and a slightly sweet, soft taste. It won the top platinum award in the Junmai Ginjo category at the Luxembourg Sake Challenge 2022, an annual sake tasting event held by the Sake Sommelier Association, and was selected as the competition's recommended sake in the SAKE Junmai Ginjo category at the International Wine Challenge 2021, the world's largest and most prestigious wine tasting event.
