According to documents remaining from our family's sake trade, our family was founded in 1695 (Genroku 8). This was around the time when Hida came under direct control of the shogunate and the shogunate issued an order to demolish Takayama Castle. Because the family originally lived in Ishikawa Prefecture, the store's name was "Kagaya," and the "Kagaya" name is even dyed in the noren curtain at the entrance. The current head of the family is the 16th generation of this long-established store. The name "Waraijou" comes from the saying "Good fortune comes to a laughing gate." As the name suggests, please enjoy this sake in a pleasant atmosphere.
